Jim Gibson, Vice President

My wife, Eddie, and I moved to the Village of Oak Creek early in 1997.  We moved from the San Francisco bay area where the bulk of my work career also took place.

My advanced education consists of degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Administration from Northwestern University and Purdue University respectively.

This education led me to dual careers.  I initially performed engineering work in the aerospace industry, including assignments related to the Apollo moon shot program.  After obtaining my business degree, I gravitated toward finance and accounting positions in which I spent most of the balance of my work career.

Since moving to the Village of Oak Creek I have been involved in numerous community and area volunteer efforts.  Eddie and I are approaching ten years as volunteers for the Sedona Library and on whose Governing Board I served for several years.

I spent a great deal of effort on the transformation of our roadway through the Village.  Organizations and efforts in this direction include Voice of Choice for 179, substantial effort during the ADOT public outreach portion of the project, participation in the Transportation Committee of the Big Park Council, founding member of the All American Road Committee and participation in the effort to provide maintenance funding for our Hwy 179 enhancements.

My past efforts directed toward VOCA include membership on the following committees: Finance, House and Grounds, Strategic Plan, Policies and Building Committee, as well as prior service as a member of the VOCA Board of Directors.

Other participation/membership includes the P & Z Committee of Big Park Council plus Keep Sedona Beautiful membership as well as a short period on their Board of Directors.
