About Village of Oakcreek Association (VOCA)

The Village of Oakcreek Association (VOCA) is located in Yavapai County in the unincorporated Village of Oak Creek about 7 miles south of Sedona AZ and about 110 miles north of Phoenix AZ.  Surrounded by spectacular red rock formations and piñon pine and juniper forests, the community offers a beautiful 18 hole championship golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Jr., a bistro style restaurant, recreational facilities including courts for tennis and pickleball and a children’s playground, a lending library and banquet facilities.  In the close vicinity multiple hiking trails provide easy access to wilderness areas within Coconino National Forest.

VOCA was created in 1975 by homeowners and lot owners who banded together to form a home owners association.  These intrepid owners raised $500,000 and purchased the almost-foreclosed golf course and other amenities and property from the original developer.  In 1975 when VOCA was formed, 150-200 families lived within the original developments, and about 1300 owned lots (among a total of about 1900 lots).  Today there are 25 subdivisions with 2340 lots within VOCA.

Within VOCA’s jurisdiction is an eclectic mix of single-family residences, multi-unit dwellings (such as townhomes and condominiums), apartment complexes, and commercial lots, all of which comprise approximately 45% of the Village of Oak Creek/Big Park community.

VOCA’s common area assets include, the Community Building/Clubhouse, VOCA Community Park where the tennis/pickleball and basketball courts, children’s playground, picnic area can be found. It also includes it’s largest asset, the golf course known as the Oakcreek Country Club. Although the golf course is a VOCA owned asset, the Bylaws require that the Oakcreek Country Club must operationally stand on its own. There is also a restaurant within the community building, and although the restaurant facility and its assets are owned by VOCA, the restaurant itself is run by an independent operator who leases the facility from VOCA.

VOCA’s HOA activities are managed by HOAMCO, a Homeowner’s Association Management Company. Their staff works onsite in VOCA’s offices and handles administration, accounting, and compliance activities. Oakcreek Country Club retains its own employees and is managed by the golf operations management team which include the Golf Superintendent and Head Golf Professional and their staff. These entities all report through the President of the Board, to the VOCA Board of Directors
